Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam (October 1931 – 27 July 2015) was an Indian aerospace scientist and politician who served as the 11thPresident of India from 2002 to 2007.
Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was born in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu and studied physics and aerospace engineering.
Kalam wrote several books, including an autobiography, Wings of Fire (1999). Among his numerous awards were two of the country’s highest honours, the Padma Vibhushan (1990) and the Bharat Ratna (1997).
